Herod's treachery (Multi) says place on Herod. Herod may play enhancements regardless of Brigade. discard this card to return X Heroes to territory.  X being how many brigades opponent has in play.

My Q. is it an Official errata that is not known to the general public that if i use Herod's Treachery on anything else than a Herod i cant use it ability when it clearly does not identify that you must use it off of a Herod.

I would really like to know....

in battle correct but you have to have a herod if your trying to do it from territory.

I thought there was a cost effect here somewhere but i could be wrong. I remember Polarius asking something like this when it first came out.

The cost-effect of the card is discard-to-withdraw.  That is not tied to the place ability because it is not stated as such, and there is no colon.

Others in this thread are correct, that if you play it in battle you could still discard it from there to withdraw.

You can also play it at any time you have an EC out and TC enhancements can be played, but the rest of the ability just doesn't happen and it is discarded.
