There appears to be no clear definition of what a “turn” is in Redemption. We had this situation come up in tournament today and everyone had a somewhat different answer as a result. From my understanding a turn is based upon what affects your opponent’s turns IF the card affects your opponent.
For example, if I block with Serpent and paralyze his human hero in territory for three turns, from my understanding it is three of HIS turns and not ALL turns (i.e., mine and his). So once the character is paralyzed, the restriction of good dominants being played by opponent begins as soon as the paralyzation occurs. Then let’s say my opponent’s turn ends and moves to my turn. I do my turn and pass to him. Now on his upkeep his first turn ended and now he has two turns left. Mine comes and goes, then his. Now he has one more turn remaining for him. Again, my turn passes and moves to his. Now his upkeep comes and his third turn has arrived, allowing him to now play his good dominates. If this is incorrect please let me know.
I really believe that “turn” needs it own definition in the REG as it is a subjective term and could be interpreted as all turns or just the one whom it affects specifically. This is a problem when it comes to tournament play and can really be a game changer depending on how “turn” is defined.
