Children of light and Ram's horn questions

Children of Light

Protect good enhancements on this Hero from opponents.

Joy:     Place on your clay or white Hero: Increase Hero 7/0 . That Hero's special ability CBN. Protect clay and white Heroes from decrease.

Shoes of Peace:   Place on your clay , red or blue N.T Hero if Hero enters battle reveal the top X cards of opponent's deck ...

Sapphira : Negate all SA on characters and enhancements (except this ability)

Ram's horn: Enhancements used by good Priests and Warrior Class Heroes CBI

My playgroup and I wanted to ask 2 questions.

example:

1.     If COL (protecting the 2 enhancements from opponent's cards) had both Joy and Shoes of Peace (reveal 1 card from opponent's deck ) on it and then Sapphira blocked would the enhancements (except Joy's ability making COL Special ability CBN) special abilities be negated and undone by Sapphira??

If so I am assuming negate , prevent , interrupt only target special abilites on cards and not cards themselves..

2. If COL already has 2 placed enhancements on it (Joy , Gentleness) and then Ram's Horn (in the prep phase) is activated are the placed enhancements CBI?? or is it only enhancements COL plays in battle gain CBI??

1. Correct. IPN targets abilities, not cards, so protect doesn't stop them.

2. Abilities are CBX when the card is played, or not at all. Placed enhancements are played when they are placed. If you activate Ram's Horn and then play Joy/Shoes of Peace, they would be CBI even if not played in battle.

So for question #1 in the example Sapphira would negate Joy's Protect and increase abilities and the reveal on Shoes of Peace I am assuming.

My playgroup member who asked the question just wanted to know if there is something in the latest REG guide that says or states something similar that IPN target abilities and not cards so protect does not stop them.

It would negate all of that, and whatever follows Shoes' reveal - I don't remember what that is.

It's not put together like that, but these 2 lines should cover it:
Quote from: REG>Targeting
Interrupt, Negate, Prevent: Abilities on Cards in Play
Quote from: REG>Immune and Protect
Immune and protect effects keep cards from being affected by a specified set of cards or abilities.

Consider this:  If Protect abilities protected themselves from Negate abilities, then in essence every Protect ability would be CBN.

Protect abilities protect cards, but Negate abilities target abilities, not cards.

Caesarea Philippi is probably the most famous example - a site that protects itself from opponents.  If you want to get rid of CP, you need to negate it first - which is why Trumpet and Sword, Shipwreck, ASA, etc. can all negate/discard it.

sorry if I seem to repeating myself , but my playgroup member just wanted clarify one last thing.

If an EC in battle played an enhancement card (SA Negate and discard the last good enhancement played this battle) which would be Shoes of Peace in this case I would assume Shoes of peace would be negated , but not discarded (because of Children of Light is protecting it from opponent's cards ) protecting it from discard that is.

Would this be correct??

Only if shoes was actually played that battle. If Shoes was played in territory it cannot be targeted as played in battle.

Sorry let me reword what I meant to ask.

If COL had Shoes of Peace placed on it in territory and then went into battle (revealed 1 card ).  Then an EC blocks and plays an evil enhancement that reads: (Negate and discard a good enhancement) and chooses Shoes of Peace.

I would assume since COL is protecting the enhancement from opponent's cards , the evil enhancement would negate Shoes of peace , but does not discard it.

Is this correct???

Going to back to question number 2.

If Ram's horn was activated and then the player placed 4 enhancements (armor enhancements) on a warrior class hero in their territory , are those 4 enhancements CBI until these placed enhancements are removed from play??
