This is one of the only instances I know of in Redemption where this sort of thing comes up but I know in Magic (A very successful TCG with extremely well defined rules) when a card's ability references it's own name, it refers to the individual card itself (So in this case, Roman Spearmen refers to just that one instance of Roman Spearmen, not any card with the name "Roman Spearmen"). If this is the case in Redemption (Which I believe it is), then Roman Spearmen's true ability is "If you control only ~ in battle, toss all enhancements that are played this battle. CBI." Where "~" means "this card".
Alternatively it could be ruled that Roman Spearmen means all cards with the name Roman Spearmen but that could easily cause unintended interactions, as this rules question demonstrates.
After writing this out it occurred to me that his ability might need a play as "If you control only Roman Spearmen is the only character you control in battle, toss all enhancements that are played this battle. CBI."
