Abel's S.A.

If you attack with Abel, discard the enhancement and protect him from capture and conversion for the remanider of the game, if he dies, does it reset or still stay in play?  I thought it would stay because of the remainder of the game, but i'm not really sure.

Abel's special ability- you may discard a good card from hand to protect abel from capture and conversion for the remainder of the game. Cannot be negated.

All cards reset when they hit the discard. If you heal him before you end your turn on the turn he dies, his ability stays, if not. Sorry out of luck for ya.

Jephthah says once per game so if I use chariot on him I can use his ability again? sweet

I don't think so. I've played against Abel before and those around me during my game, including myself, unanimously agreed that Abel's ability would do exactly what it says, exactly the way it says - for the remainder of the game - even if it's discarded and resurrected again with CoF. All abilities that relate to the entire game cannot be reset unless they are negated, and Abel is CBN. I'm pretty sure that's the rule.

+1  Saying that "remainder of game" means remainder of game, regardless whether abilities reset in d/c.  Now, if Jephthah's ability resets........ XD

I know the once per game don't reset I was just applying the logic that once something hits the D/c pile it resets to Jephthah

Jepthah and Amaziah don't reset when discarded or shuffled into draw pile because their abilities say "per game".  Therefore I agree that Abel should not reset either.  Consistency ftw!

I hate to burst any bubbles, but this is from the REG (Ongoing Abilities -> Miscellaneous -> Default Conditions):

•      A "per game" ability applies to all copies of the card and is not reset (e.g., return to pile).

•      A "remainder of the game" ability is a gained ongoing ability.  It targets cards in play, which gain that ability while they remain in play or set aside.  The “remainder of game” ability can be reset (e.g., return to pile).

This is not intuitive at all.  If someone read a SA that said "per game" and another SA that said "remainder of the game" they would naturally assume that it meant the same thing.  The definition for "remainder of game" would really go better with the words "until reset" or "while in play or set-aside"  I hope that they change this in the New REG so that these wordings are consistent.

Hey,

Abilities about cards reset if the card goes to the draw or discard pile.  Abilities about the game do not reset if the card goes to the draw or discard pile.

Abel's ability defines how long the card gains the effect.  Thus the card looses the effect when it hits the draw/discard pile.

Jepthah and King Amaziah define how many times the ability can be used in the game.  When the cards go to the draw/discard pile they reset but the game does not, thus the abilities cannot be used again.
