Title: Revolt card question and other questions
Post by: redemption collector 777 on January 10, 2016, 08:14:20 PM
Revolt SA: ITB. EC may band to any number of non-roman Evil characters. Set aside all characters in battle until you begin a RA.

Samaritan Water Jar SA:

Discard this card to reveal the top 3 cards of an opponent's deck (or 9 if a Samaritan Hero is in play) and set them aside. Put Lost Souls in play instead. When that deck has no cards, return those cards from set-aside to deck.

Covenant of Abraham SA: No Evil Character may be set aside while this card is in play.

1. If an EC used revolt and banded to 5 other Evil characters , by the time the revolt finishes its special ability (of setting aside all characters in battle) , can the special abilities on the banded Evil characters active?

2. If no SA on the banded Evil characters can active by the time revolt finishes , then if Covenant of Abraham was in play and then revolt was used can the abilities on the banded Evil characters active?

3. If Water Jar was used and Covenant of Abraham was in play , would any Evil characters revealed by water jar , get revealed then put back on top of deck? (because they can not be set aside)

1. Character abilities activating is part of a band ability, so the ECs banded in would activate before the set aside ability happens.

3. I believe Covenant of Abraham is considered a protect ability which would default to play so evil characters in deck can still be set aside as they are not protected since they are not in play. Not 100% sure on that, though.

just looked up Covenant of Abraham card on Redemption ccg wiki and it's errata says it is worded as a prevent Evil characters from being set aside. Not sure if the wiki is 100% though.

It is a protect, not a prevent:

Quote from: REG 3.0 Prevent > Clarifications
The phrases “No [card type] may,” “cannot,” and “may not” when not immediately followed by the word “be” indicate prevent abilities.

The "be" immediately follows, indicating targeting of the card, which is something that Protect stops.
