The New Covenant Question

I played in a game yesterday, where somebody used The New Covenant to take his Disciples out of the discard pile, even though they'd been in there for two turns. Is this legal? My understanding was it could only be used when a Disciple would otherwise have been discarded, right?

If it is the healing covenant, then no it is not legal.   You have to play a healing card on the same turn they were discarded to pull them out of the discard pile.

Then I stand by my statement:  It is not a legal play.  They needed Chariot of Fire to return the heroes instead if the they had been in the discard pile for 2 turns.
