REG Update - Choose the Rescuer

Under Instant Ability Cards > Choose Blocker or Rescuer Cards there is no entry for Evil Characters.  I believe that Complainers should be added to this list.

Complainers is a negate and an exchange, not a pure "Choose Opponent" card.

I'm not denying that it's both of those things too, but you can still choose the rescuer.

It's not played on the same level as a card like Lies though. If Abednego banded to Daniel attacks, then Complainers will cause one of the Heroes to be swapped, while Lies will remove them both and add a new one.

Exchange is not the same thing as choose-rescuer.  The end result is the same but the methods are different.

Cards that can exchange for a character elsewhere (Unknown Nation, Stringed Instruments, etc) can have the same result as a band but they are not counted as banding cards.

Hey,

A choose opponent ability used when there are characters present on both sides of battle causes all characters controlled by the opponent to leave battle and allows you to choose one new character to replace them with.  Complainers is not a choose opponent ability because he only forces one character out of battle (although because he negates abilities on heroes that usually is the only character your opponent has in battle, but that will not always be the case).

Cards that can exchange for a character elsewhere (Unknown Nation, Stringed Instruments, etc) can have the same result as a band but they are not counted as banding cards.

Actually, they are counted as banding cards.

Unknown Nation was a poor example because it is not an exchange card.  I meant to say Perpetual Priesthood.

Stringed Instruments is not a banding card, though.

Hey,

From the REG: "If a character is added to battle and joins another character already in battle, that action is
considered banding."

And any card that can or does perform a banding action is a banding card.

Unless the card exchanges. Wheel within a wheel isn't a banding card despite adding another hero into battle.

Right, because Wheel within a Wheel brings a character into battle to replace a character in battle rather than to join a character in battle.

No, it is not.  That is precisely why Perpetual Priesthood has always gotten around Household Idols.  An exchange is not a band.

from the Reg:

Exchanging a character in battle is not considered a banding ability.
That surprises me.  I agreed with Tim on this and never thought that HHI would stop PP.  I thought that banding status was conditional on whether or not an additional hero was added.

The way I read that, it says that an exchange ability that targets a character that is in battle is not a banding ability.  Which is true.  But Perpetual Priesthood and the like do not satisfy that condition.

Perpetual Priesthood results in two heroes in battle together.  Are those two heroes banded?  It seems to me that they have to be because there is no other mechanic in Redemption that allows multiple characters to fight together.

The card does not care that multiple characters are fighting together.  Sing With Stringed Instruments, for example, can just as easily exchange for an Enhancement as a Hero.

Cards that band are cards that specifically say either "band" or "add to battle" (assuming one other character already in battle).  Note the direct correlation between the language of the REG entry ("add to battle") and the language of the special ability ("add to battle").  I am not aware of any banding cards that do not have one of these two specific phrases.

Exchange is not a banding card or an add-to-battle card.  It only swaps the respective positions of two targeted cards.

Jacob can use his ability to play an enhancement and not band to a Silver brigade hero.  That doesn't make him any less of a banding card.

Not to sound mean but Duh. It says band. It does not say exchange.

Right.  A card that says "band" is a banding card, even if it has a second, completely different ability.  I don't understand what your point is supposed to be.

Simple idea, Exchange =/= Add.

Numerous as the Stars is an exchange card, because the enhancement is replaced by a hero.
Answer to Prayer could be considered a banding card, because can add a hero into battle and the enhancement itself remains.
