Title: Re: Rule clarifications - additions and edits
Post by: juhnkect on May 14, 2009, 04:46:58 PM
I'm not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this question on... but i was wondering if there could be clarification on the cards "Forgotten History" and "Gibeonite Trickery" they both read  "...The Battle immediately ends..." does that mean if the EC was losing by the numbers, he still dies and thus forfeits a lost soul? Or does the battle end in a stalemate type fashion where both EC and Hero return to territories, enhancements are discarded, and no LS is rescued?

Posts like this belong in new threads in the Ruling Questions subforum.

The answer is that the battle ends, and the outcome is determined by the numbers at that point. If King Saul (10/10) is blocked by Athaliah (2/2) and the blocker plays Gibeonite Trickery (0/4) and ends the battle, then King Saul wins.

When the battle ends immediately, everyone stops what they're doing and figures out if it's win, loss, stalemate, whatever.  No other cards can be played, including the use of Artifacts or Dominants (that doesn't include already-active cards that say "at end of battle" or "if rescue fails" or something like that).

Does that mean that Heavy taxes can not be negated by Covenant with Noah? because I was under the impression that it could be.

When the battle ends the Battle Phase is over.  Card played in a previous phase cannot be interrupted/negated after they're played.  So by the very natute of what it does, Heavy Taxes, like ANB, cannot be interrupted/negated after it's played.

Assuming that it ends the battle with a Roman emperor playing it.

Really ANB cannot be interrupted or negated?  someone talked me into letting them negate my ANB in a game once.  now I am mad..  grrr.  I thought I was right.

You mean if it's a stalemate as you play those, I can't even get a lost soul by playing "Angel of the Lord"?

That's correct.  When the battle is over, the battle is over.  Not even AotL would win you a LS at that point.
