Do the cards already played in the current battle go to the side battle?
-
Only Those played a hero( or EC) forced in a side battle(?)
-
Im guessing this is an IN GAME question and if so then im afaiad I'm a little late.
Instant Special Abilities > Fight Each Other
How to Use
If two heroes (or two evil characters) are forced to fight each other, this is called a side battle. In a side battle, each player involved in the original battle controls the characters on one side of the side battle. The characters which must fight are selected by the player of the side battle ability and placed into the side battle in any order. If only one selected character was already in battle, then its current controller retains control of that character in the side battle. If both of the selected characters are being controlled by the same player in the original battle, the player of the side battle ability chooses which one he will control in the side battle. The player that controls a character controls any banding special abilities (if applicable). However, characters in a side battle cannot band to characters already in the Field of Battle. If one or more characters already in the field of battle are selected to fight in a side battle, their special abilities do not reactivate.
If the side battle ends in a mutual destruction, all cards in the side battle are discarded. If the side battle does not end in mutual destruction, the battle is resolved as follows:
• Losing characters are discarded along with any enhancements played on them.
• Characters not discarded or removed from the side battle that came from the original battle return to the original battle, including any enhancements played during the side.
• Any other characters not discarded or removed from the side battle return to their owner’s territory. The active battle then transfers back to the original battle.

Yeah I saw that from the side battle section in the reg. It says that any cards played in the side battle come back to the original battle. What I'm wondering is, I attack and am blocked. We are playing booster draft so I don't have a battle winner just enhancements with numbers. I play a couple, and my opponent then plays Christian Suing Another, or the like, and a side battle is created with my original attacker and a character from a territory. My question is: Do the enhancements I've already played go to the side battle with my character or just "float" in the original battle?
-
if they go back i would say they come with. so follow the character i would say.
-
so the enhancements follow if the hero they're played on is put in side battle?
-
i would say yes. elder confirmation?
-
so the enhancements follow if the hero they're played on is put in side battle?
I would say no, but I guess I'm not 100% sure. I have always played it as if the answer was no.
-
That's how I played it. But idk...any others wanna comment on this? I just wanna make sure?
-
I would say no. I have always ruled that the end of a side battle is like the end of traditional battle, Survivng characters return to where they came from, enhancements are discarded. Is this incorrect?
-
I've always ruled it that enhancements played before a side battle don't follow, but I just wanted to confirm because their isn't anything about that, that I've seen.

But is that section of the REG correct? The REG is just a guideline at this point. It is extremely difficult to know what is correct in it, and was is obsolete.
-
???

The original question was regarding whether enhancements played before the side battle enter the side battle. Not about whether ehancements in the side battle move back to the main battle (which they do, as far as I know; this REG entry is correct).
FWIW, I have always played that they don't go from main battle to side battle.

In this case an interrupt, Christian Suing Another, was played to start the side battle, which seems it would interrupt the enhancements in battle until the side battle completes. So it is my belief the enhancements should not follow the character from the original battle to the side battle. However, what needs to be determined is if this would work the same for a card that starts a side battle but does not interrupt. Basically we have 3 choices:
A. Enhancements never follow characters taken from battle into a side battle.
B. Enhancements always follow characters taken from battle into a side battle.
C. Enhancements never follow characters taken from battle into a side battle if the card used to create the side battle is an interrupt, but enhancements always
follow characters taken from battle into a side battle if the card used to create the side battle does not interrupt the original battle.

usually there's no initiative to play enhancements before being sent to a side battle (thanks combo players).
I think this is why there hasnt been much rulings on the situation. I wasnt around for the Eric Largent multiple side battle days so im not sure what kind of rulings were made from that era.
My ruling is from the REG in that it says characters not discarded come back to the main battle with the enhancements played so i assume the same works for going into the side battle, its just rare because the the person creating the side battle usually tries to have initiative to do so...in this case it occured in a booster draft game, where anything can happen.
