Quick Question about Ignoring vs. Immunity

My opponent is immune to me via a character ability, and I play an enhancement that allows me to ignore his brigade (not just the character). Am I ignoring the character that's immune to me or not?

Because he was immune prior to your ignore the battle becomes a stalemate. If you had ignored him first then you would be winning.
