1. When your opponent blocks with banded evil characters and you create a side battle between one of your evil characters and the original character your opponent blocked with, does the side battle bring your opponents banded evil character(s) into battle as well?
2a. What happens when you play Grapes of Wrath in a side battle between 2 evil characters?
2b. Does the hero from the original battle get shuffled as well?
2c. If not and your rescue is successful and you have the fewest lost souls still, do you get to make a new rescue attempt?

2. I'm pretty sure Grapes does not grant a new battle if played during a side battle. I also believe it only shuffles characters in the battle in which it's played. Not 100% sure, though.

1. I do not think the banded character follows.

1.) No, because the banding ability can't reactivate.

2.) Grapes doesn't shuffle the hero, but thanks to the new errata, there isn't a new battle.

I am assuming the banded in evil character finishes out the original battle with the hero, less one evil character if the side battle results in your opponents evil character losing in some fashion?

Yup.  If there isn't a banded character, the hero wins.
