Title: Questions from a tournament
Post by: crustpope on April 17, 2011, 12:59:03 AM
1. Can you take disciples out of fishing boat during your upkeep or Prep phase to use for a RA (other than placing them beneath deck for effect?)

2. What happens when a CBN banding card is played against a CBN no banding card (such as 12 fingered giant.)  It was ruled that the first CBN card works but the other does not, but that seems counter intuitive to CBN.  I have always played that any CBN card can be played, even if a CBN preventing effect has been played or exists before it.  which is correct?

1. Yes.

2. Depends on what "no banding" means. 12FG does nothing against a CBN band, because it's trying to negate something that can't be Negated. Whether or not the negate can be negated has no bearing.

For each "negate" ability, I like to think of it having a hidden clause "...except for CBN/CBI abilities".  12FG's ability could read "Negate all banding, except CBN/CBI banding.  Cannot be negated."  CBN only describes 12FG's ability, and does nothing to the actual banding cards in battle.

Bringing Fear is the same way.  That's why Zeal on Phinehas or Josh goes right through the CBN Bringing Fear.

That's a really good way to think about it. +1

I got hosed on both of those rulings and I made these exact arguments.  Sometimes going to tournaments can be a tad frustrating...

Come to mine instead. I'll let you do whatever you want, including redeem demons and use Jacob's Ladder to rescue your own Lost Souls.

What about playing ANB during a battle challenge and without having to remove it from the game?
