Questions about Grapes , The Sanhedrin and others

Grapes of Wrath: If no Heroes remain in battle and the current rescuer doesn’t have the most Redeemed Souls, he may begin a new battle.

The Sanhedrin: May band to a Pharisee  , a Sadducee and Scribe CBN

Abigail:  May band to David.

1. If two players had 3 redeemed Lost Souls and Player A played Grapes on Player B's EC in battle , can Player A start a new battle?

2.  (Assuming 3 characters, a Pharisee , Sadducee and Scribe are in play in a territory) Can The Sanhedrin have the option to band to just a Pharisee and/or Sadducee and/or Scribe? or is it band all 3 or nothing?

3. Can Abigail band to King David?

4. By the current rulings can any of the following cards be used during SI  (if the opposing ability were to remove your last character in battle)

 Gamaliel's Speech

Covenant of Noah

Unsuccessful

1. Yes. If players are tied for the highest amount of Redeemed Souls then no player has the "most."

2. The may is transitive so Sanhedrin may band to a pharisee, may band to a sadducee, and may band to Scribe. You can choose any, all, or none.

3. I believe so. Cards that say David also apply to King David but cards that specify King David do not apply to David.

4. Not if they are already in play; however, you can use the Cov/Curse if you use them from hand (but not Speech since it has its place/discard-to-use clause). However in most cases they can be used from play immediately after to negate your removal. It's a small technicality but is important for situations like Herod Agrippa II where the removal turns into a different CBN ability.

EDIT: Slightly changed my answer for #4.

2. I also believe that if you are banding to multiple, you have to do it in the order specified.

4: Check out the thread "Gameliel's Speech and SI" for more info.

i'm just asking this for clarification because i still am not 100% sure on this ruling:

gam's speech does not work to negate removal? as in i go in with a hero blocked by herod agrippa the second, he has initiative plays abandonment- i know that they ruled the capture is not cbn because the withdraw is not cbn for si purposes. so does his capture ability become cbn still? does gam's speech not work after it has been placed to negate and dc abandonment while it is not cbn to keep the hero in battle?? just looking for the clear ruling on this because i'm still wondering my self. thanks!!

Speech cannot be used during SI because it doesn't come from hand and is an optional triggered ability.

In the case of HA2 I believe he gets to trigger first, though I'm not 100% on the why, something about the types of triggers HA2 and Speech have. I think because Speech is an optional trigger that's why it can't insert itself between the withdraw and HA2 triggering to capture.

Gam's Speech must be triggered by the player when they have a chance to do so (nothing else is being triggered).  HAII is triggered upon a withdraw.  Therefore, HAII triggers before Gam's Speech and must resolve first.
