Question about conversions (Blinding Light)

Two-part question about conversions...

NOTE: Blinding Light (dominant) says: "Convert your N.T. evil character to a hero in any brigade..."

(Question 1): If my character is converted (to a hero), then he/she can make rescue attempts, right?

(Question 2): Does the new hero retain the special abilities that the former evil character had?

EXAMPLE: Hellenistic Jews has the special ability of playing a black or gray enhancement. So, can the Hellenistic Jews still play a black (EVIL) enhancement, even though the character is no longer evil (the character is now a hero)?

Thanks,

Eric, FL

EC retain their abilities (and weapons) when converted as long as the ability doesn't harm a hero and it's an ability a hero can have.  Heroes can't play evil enhancements, so that ability wouldn't work

1. Yes

2. Depends on the ability. With Hellenistic Jews the ability will not convert since it's contrary to heroes, and heroes don't use evil enhs. But if the ability is something like Damsel with Spirit of Div's ability then the ability will convert because it can work either way (as a hero or EC) without contradicting her now being a hero.

I think Damsel says "If blocking" but in general you are correct.

For Hellenistic Jews, the "Each player must draw a card" ability would work if converted to a Hero.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

Ah yes. Forgot about the whole "if blocking" part. :)

What about Emp. Tiberius? Would his underdecking of a good card be converted since it doesn't directly affect a hero? I believe it would.

So,

If I am getting this right, whenever you convert a character (either way), whether or not it can still use its special ability will depend upon the "nature" of the special ability.

In other words, a hero cannot use an "evil" special ability (such as using an evil enhancement), and an EC cannot use a "good" special ability (such as using a good enhancement).

So, this pretty much means that we are on a "case by case" basis with ALL conversions, and we will have to carefully read the special ability to make a determination on each one individually.

This will no doubt require bringing in the judge a lot during tournaments.

(But that's ok, it's worth it!)

Thanks,

Eric

Convert

General Description  A convert ability changes one or more characteristics of a card. This may include alignment, card type, or brigade.  How to Play  A converted card generally retains its special abilities, identifiers, and type.

Special abilities on Heroes (and good weapons) that have been converted to Evil Characters (and evil weapons) can never activate.

Special abilities on Evil Characters (and evil weapons) that have been converted to Heroes (and good weapons) may activate, except for special abilities that specifically target Heroes when the card is at face value.
