A friend of mind had his hero made at Nats last year. He requested Purple, but it was printed Blue. The Reg entry for his card says Purple. How does he go about using it as Purple?
-
I suggest crayon.
On a side note - I will be playing my custom hero at your regionals. I assume you'll be judging, so I wanted to give you a heads up.
-
No problem...
-
You may want to shoot John M an email, see if he can do anything like reprinting it for him.
-
Good idea...I actually hadn't considered that. Thanks for the thought!
-
better then what i did to mine, lets just say keeping it in the trunk of my care for a year, was not nice to the card, pretty sure it was heat that melted the numbers right off mine. So i have white No SA no number character. (no sa was my choice)
-
Btw are these cards staying legit through the 2011-2012 season? I havnt heard any talk about this since the cards first came out...
-
I believe that whether or not they will continue to be legal is being talked about right now. I personally hope that they continue to be legal but its not up to me.

Joining the ranks of Jochebed, Bravery of Priscilla, etc.

Me too. I hope they do it again so I can get one.
-
If they don't remain legal I want my money back. I bought a card being told it was legal for play. It should remain that way.
-
Why would a custom hero with a bland special ability become illegal for tourney play?

When they were announced last year, it was made rather clear that they were available at the 2010 Nationals and tournament legal for this tournament season. It was specified that they would be assessed after that to determine if they would be offered again and if they would continue to be legal.
-
I was actually just trying to make a point (though is appears it was a particularly poor one). I didn't actually pay for my own custom hero, it was graciously taken care of for me by someone else.
Regardless, I don't see a reason for them not to continue to see play. The only ones I've seen used are the Access to All Sites ones, and most brigades do that better already. I would find it a bit ironic that 20+ cards could potentially get banned, after this long with no cards being banned previously (though this is obviously a different scenario).
-
I really see no reason for them to be banned.
-
Me, neither. I'm all for them leaving the ones already made as they are and not allowing more printed. That way I don't have to decide if I want to buy one this year. ;)
Actually, if more people can get them this year or at any point in the future, I think the biggest decision will be whether the options should remain the same to make it "fair" to everyone, or if they should change it up.
I didn't really pay attention to them since I couldn't make it to Nationals last year, but I probably would get one this year if they have them just because it's a cool idea. :)
Perhaps they are more prevalent elsewhere, but I haven't seen a single one played, so I can't imagine they are overpowered enough to have them cease being tournament-legal. The biggest issue would be knowing if it's real or not for a host that hasn't seen one before (like me), or doesn't know who had them made since they can't access the REG due to lack of internet at a tournament location (used to be me).
-
They're not overpowered at all. Though it is fun to Martyr your opponent.
-
I've seen Jonathan Greeson play his a few times, but like SomeKittens said niether of them are OP'ed. Plus Christian Martyr becomes hilarious
-
I agree that they should stay legal and that they will make more because I want one since I'll be going to Nats this year.
-
whats fun is removing them from the game. "what but i still wana play"
-
The John Earley card is kinda OP. It's an NT animal that can recur Benedictus. Oh, and it's female. :-*

QFT.
I did go 5-1 at NC regionals with it in the deck..... I don't think it ever made a succesful rescue though. It did 'Lay down it's Life' to help Susanna win the final rescue vs Martin though.

The only custom card that is good enough to impact the meta in any way would be a hymn-recurring Musician owned by a female. Other than that, the cards are pure novelty and are outclassed by at least 7 other Heroes within their brigades.
-
Now I really wanna make an OP'd card of myself.
-
And the fact that I'm one of two warrior-class females in the game (another female made a red hero). But that's not OP'd, I don't even use it, even though I should. :)

You should seriously consider fighting crime and taking down a very tall man.

I think the gold draw hero for use with A-bomb is also significant. Can't think of any other hero options that made much difference other than being good looking.
I think the current options are not OP but good enough (not useless) with enough variety to leave for a couple years. Then maybe review for creating new options.
Hope for the chance to get one someday.

I just noticed that the custom heros are listed in the Reg definitions with the normal cards. For example, the list of prophets is not just Elijah, Moses, Daniel, etc but includes the players custom heros. IMO this is not necessary and more confusing than helpful. If I'm trying to look through an already long list to find prophets to include in my deck, it is harder because of all the extra names. Especially considering that many of the names in the Chrisian community are Biblical so its not immediately obvious if the name in the list is a card that I can play with or some other player. If you want to look up a players card to see if it is a prophet then it is easy enough to do that in the custom hero list.
I just looked at musicians and I'm pretty sure there are more players in that list than normal Redemption cards. It gives a very wrong impression of how many musicians are available in the game.
-
I'm sure that'll be fixed in the new REG. I'm unsure why it's there now.

Excellent,
I'll get another chance to behead him >:D

If you're looking at a list of an identifier or whatever, just ignore cards with the set note (MA) as that means they are custom heroes....
