What do you mean by "OK"?  Do you mean tournament legal?  No proxies are tournament legal.

Whether your friends accept proxies in casual play is up to your friends.  Decide that before the game.

For local playgroups and non-official tournaments...(for example pickupgames before tournaments or after) Proxies are fine of ANY card..However, proxies are not allowed in official (Cactus sanctioned) tournaments.

I may be speaking over my head playtesters, but I make a lot of proxies, so I believe, from tutelage of Gabe, that this is correct.

Regardless, if you allow one card to be proxied for sanctioned tournaments you will get a stampede of reasons why to allow others.

The rule has to be consistent.  No reason to allow one type of card but not another.  Where do you draw the line? Besides, if you don't have at least 7 lost souls, then you have other problems...since you get 14 in any starter. :)

what if we allowed a proxy tournament where all players have access to any card, that way its not a question whether one player has better cards than another- but rather who plays the best!
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

We have a "Proxy tournament where all players have access to any card", It is called ROOT.

So clearly, the size of your collection has no effect on whether you win. ;)

It can, but proxy-ing (at least in other games) to have a less valued card take the place of a valued one BUT you must PROVE you own the valued one.

Oddly enough in the 6 months of this year, Gabe has only placed twice.  In fact, he's lost 2 out of his 3 games this week.  So all of you guys out there who are too scared to join ROOT because of your fear of Gabe should quit hiding and come play.  It's fun :)

This is meant to encourage people to play ROOT, not to belittle Gabe, who is still totally AWESOME and kicks my tail all the time

what does Proxy mean??

It's a pretend card you use in a deck to replace a real card that you don't have. A lot of people (myself included) have used the white instruction cards with the names of the cards I want to use written on them when testing out decks with cards we don't own. They're not tournament legal though.

oh ok, so, on my phone i have proxy setings, what would that mean??

Honestly, I don't know what 'proxy' means in other contexts. I've really only heard the term used for Redemption, and on 24, when Chloe says a bunch of gibberish about 'proxy servers'. I'm guessing it means 'substitute' of some kind, but if you want to know, you should look it up.

She is my wife and I's favorite character!!!  She is so funny with no cares in the world.  This season is amazing!  Best yet.

Sorry that this is  :offtopic:

Best yet.

I don't know if I'd say that, seasons 3 and 4 probably still rank as my favorite. But I do think this season got much better on Monday when we realized that

Spoiler (hover to show)

But yeah, we could probably discuss it in a different thread in the off-topic section (or Open Discussion--it has the TV equivalent rating of a PG-13 movie, but just to be on the safe side). Ruling question threads should stick to ruling questions.
