Alright so my opponent was using Thad to make a rescue attempt, he had 11 disciples out. I blocked with my EC who had a toughness of 7 I believe. Knowing I was going to lose the battle I played the Grey Enhancement Bearing Bad News. The enhancement states that if a unique human evil character is discarded as a result of battle no lost soul may be rescued by hero this turn.
My opponent then said that since thad's ability was protecting cards from my EC and enhancements my Lost Souls were being protected by Thad from the protection gained from the enhancement.
Does Thad really protect from protection?
-
I think it does since he was originally designed to counter Uzzah. I dislike Thad and I always make sure I have ways to beat him in my deck.
-
I dislike Thad as well because of the many ways he can be abused. But why would he protect from protection? The lost souls are not being "harmed" per say.
BTW would you happen to be Brett from Creation?
-
Protection is as wide or narrow as each specific ability says it is. Thad's ability protects from everything, not just "harm." His protection can indeed protect from cards gaining other protection.
-
Yes I am that same Bret. Are you Corey?
-
Yes indeed that would be me. And thank you both for the info.
