Protect and immune?

Apparently there was a recent ruling during a regionals that stated that Thaddeus is NOT protected from EEs. First question..is this an official ruling?

Second question, does this mean that heroes that are immune to evil characters are no longer immune to EEs played by that character?

No that was not an official ruling.  It was a ruling for MW regional only and likely the ruling for the EC Reginonal as well.  At nationals, Thad will be protected from the EC and from enhancements played on the EC.  After Nationals it may change.

I am pretty sure immunity still works the same way it always has but I dont get to be counted as official so I likely am just muddying up the waters here...he he he

Crust and Bryon are both correct.  Except it actually is most likely that Thad will be ruled at EC Regional as if his ability is an immunity (therefore covering characters AND their enhancements).

I always try to rule the way that I think that Nats will be ruled, so that people can get practice for the Big Show :)

REally?  Really?  Seriously?  So you and RDT decided to open up a can of worms MW Regionals because.... you thought that it would most likely be ruled that way at Nats?

An-E-Way What I would like to know is this: IF Thad is ruled to protect ONLY against the EC, will it be because thad being ruled that way because of the wording on his SA or because ALL of protection is being neutered to include only the Character and not the enhancements on that protected brigade.  BEcause that is the Million dollar question.

That question will be answered when an official ruling is decided upon and announced. To answer that question now would only add confusion and possibly be inaccurate.

First of all, don't pin it on RDT, I'll take the blame/credit for that decision.  Second of all, yes I did think that the extent of Thad's protection was an issue that was currently unresolved and therefore I felt that it would be in the best interest of the players at a Regional tournament (who I assumed were trying to hone their decks for Nats coming soon) to be able to get experience in the type of setting that they would be most likely to find at Nats.

No, the player is drawing the card.

REG(re:drawing): This category includes all cards with a special ability that allows or directs a player to draw a card.

Unless, of course, said player is "a person regarded as odd or amusing" or Orson Scott Card.  Then they'd count as a "card in play"

Interesting.  I was going to say yes, but hearing Kittens reasoning, I can get behind that.

odd. sir nobody ruled at MO state that it did since the ec targets the draw pile.

That's how I would rule too. I don't see anything in that REG quote that indicates otherwise to me.

Players never target anything.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Except perhaps Haman's Plot? I'd like to see the card rip itself....  ;D

If I ever saw a card ripping itself, especially Plot, I'd be on the campaign trail to get it banned forever on grounds of haunting.

We don't ban cards in Redemption. We use exorcism.

I think it was in Trumpet Blast. It was something like "If you don't pay the exorcist, you get repossessed."

I seriously lol'd when I read it, haha.

Can I play a card even though it doesn't have a legal target due to a protect? The instance I am encountering right now is every player has Guardian up and a player wants to play Falling Away for no effect to get his hand size down to get past the speed bump lost soul.

Yes, you may play a dominant at any time, even if there is no legal target. I've often played evil Doms with Lampstand active for no effect, or Falling Away when everyone has GoYS, Grapes when there is no battle, even SoG/NJ when there are no Lost Souls in play...

I could see playing a good dominant for no effect in a multiplayer game if one opponent was trying to rescue this lone Lost Soul from another opponent:

Lost Soul (Luke 13:25) (Di)
Special Ability: If an opponent plays a good Dominant, you may place this Lost Soul beneath owner's deck.
