Pride in Position

Ok, I was looking around for this, and all I could find was a thread that kinda mentioned it as a side topic, but I would still like to make sure.  When I went to Nationals last year, my brother was playing an opponent.  My brother had a demon deck, and he was defending against an attack.  His opponent played Trumpet Blast I think and was about to kill his demon.  Then my brother played, Pride in Position, and the guy playing him said that Pride in Position doesn't negate the special ability of Trumpet Blast.  So my brother called a judge over and the judge said the same thing.  I was never aware of this ruling, because I thought once a card was interrupted and removed from play the ability did not work anymore.  And then I looked at this thread  http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=15064.0
and it supports my line of reasoning that it does negate the enhancement.  So my brother and I want to know, since the issue has come up again, and any input would be apprieciated.  Thanks!

Trumpet Blast would be negated, the same way that Devourer can "negate" good enhancements.  The good enhancement is interrupted, and after the interrupt is complete, the enhancement is no longer in play and thus does not activate.

I had heard the same thing, that Pride in Position doesn't negate things. This seems really odd because Devourer DOES.

So does it matter if an enhancement is sent to the deck or discard for its special ability to stop?  If that's the case, when someone plays a card like Coliseum Lions, then when his opponent interrupts the battle with a card like Two Bears and shuffles the enhancement into the draw pile, that would mean that the evil discard ability of the enhancement in battle would still continue, unless shuffle is defined different than the placing a card on the bottom or top of your deck.

Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Green • Ability: 4 / 2 • Class: None • Special Ability: If used by a Prophet, interrupt the battle and select one card of each evil brigade in play. Shuffle them into deck. • Identifiers: None • Verse: II Kings 2:24 • Availability: Rock of Ages (Set 13)

Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 2 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: Interrupt and discard all good enhancements now in battle. • Identifiers: OT, Connected with Demons • Verse: Malachi 3:11 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Rare)

Whoever said this is wrong. Lets look at this logically step by step.

Step 1:
Is the last enhancement played by your opponent OR are you being caused to lose the battle by an opponent's enhancement?
If yes: Go to step 2. If no: Go to step 5

Step 2:
Did you place the said enhancement under it's owner's draw pile?
If yes: Go to step 3. If no: Go to step 5

Step 3:
Is the said enhancement still in play to reactivate?
If no: Go to step 4. If yes: Go to step 5

Step 4:
The enhancement is no longer in play to reactivate when the interrupt finished. The card is effectively "negated"

Step 5:
The enhancement is either non existent, or is still in play which means it reactivates.

I think thats more Choose your Own Adventure.  :P

Yeah, I do agree it should negate, but I was just saying I've heard people say it doesn't, like the judge in the original post.

Now if we can try to get Pride in the Flesh to allow us to grab demons from Tartaros I'd use all of those "Pride in ____" cards in my orange defenses.  :P

This is a case where 3 "major players" (myself, Lambo, RR) all agree that Pride in Position DOES negate the last GE (including Trumpet Blast).  Since there is no disagreement by other "major players", and no input from PTB, this ruling should be considered definitive.

I think having a summary statement at the end of ruling questions like this might be helpful for hosts or others who want to know the outcome of these sorts of things.  I'll try to remember to start doing this more often and would encourage others to as well.
