Title: Play the First Enhancement
Post by: SirNobody on October 05, 2008, 07:56:44 PM
Hey,

My opponent attacks me with Michael holding Angel's Sword.  I block with Shadow who has been gathered.  He bands to Lying Spirit who band to Naaman holding Naaman's Chariot and Horses.

Michael/Angel's Sword takes precedent over Naaman/Naaman's Chariot and Horses so I cannot use Naaman's Chariot and Horses to play an enhancement, right?

But does Michael/Angel's Sword also stop me from playing Snare with Shadow's ability (which would be played before the human evil character is in battle?

That last point is a VERY good question, since all other abilities complete BEFORE banding (or CTB)...

I would argue that shadow very well COULD play a capture, then band to someone.

But if I capture Michael and then band in Naaman then Angel's Sword technically isn't in battle to activate and Naaman's Chariots goes off letting me play... right?

heres another good question, if you were to capture the ONLY hero in battle, would you still be allowed to band in an EC and use a play next type ability?

Yes because all abilities must complete. Only issue in this senario is you need unclean spirit, not lying.

that is AWESOME.

now... if you had CAPTURED mike+Asword, he didnt interrupt, then you banded in a human with 2kh... would that ITB interrupt the capture, allowing mike to play next?

Read itb in the REG. It will tell you no. You NEVER stop your own abilities with ITB UNLESS they are ONGOING.

Hey,

The more I think about it, the current ruling is that a "play the first enhancement" ability does not allow you to play an enhancement if one has already been played right?  So snare can be played because there isn't a human in battle yet so Angel's Sword hasn't kicked in yet, and once snare is played even if angel's sword does kick in it doesn't do anything since an enhancement has already been played which means Naaman's Chariot and Horses should allow the defender to play a second enhancement.

Hey,

If I use Ahimelech, Priest at Nob to convert Helmet of Brass to Green and put it on David.  Would Helmet of Brass stop Hidden Treasures from playing an enhancement?  What if it was Angel's Sword instead of Helmet of Brass?

Nope, HT was active first and it says Once per turn, if your lone green brigade prophet begins a battle, you may play an Enhancement or discard an evil Enhancement in an opponent's deck. So you play the enhancement before battle begins then helmet of Brass, angels sword, whatever lets you play another  enhancement
