Hey,
A OT purple hero has Peace Treaty placed on it. That player goes out with a teal hero. I block with a black EC with larger numbers giving initiative to my opponent. He plays Jehoidiah's Strength to band in that OT purple hero who now ignores black. Peace Treaty is immediately discarded as required by the placement card. Now, I play Devourer hoping to negate the band and thus the ignore ability (hero is no longer in battle). Does this work???
You cannot negate the fact that Peace Treaty was played, which means you cannot indirectly negate it, and since it is no longer in play (discarded by the ability that placed it on the hero) it is not directly negated by Devourer, so the purple hero is still ignoring black. But Devourer does negate the band which sends the purple hero back to it's owner's territory which means you treat the black evil character in battle as if it were not being ignored for determining battle outcome purposes.
Second question... what happens if I play foolish advise???
Foolish Advice would have the same effect as Devourer in this situation (except that Jehoiada's Strength remains in play and the battle is by the numbers from then on).
If the band is negated and the priest has initiative he can choose to use his active silver trumpets to band in that same OT purple hero. First of all, can this be done (since that hero was already in battle) and secondly, is that hero still ignoring black (even though peace treaty was discarded)...
As mentioned above the hero is still ignoring black. Whether or not the character can re-enter battle, I'm not exactly sure, but my gut says no it cannot.
Third... would the situation be any different if peace treaty had been played in battle instead of being placed on the OT hero???
If Peace Treaty were played in battle and then discarded by say Yoke of Iron prior to Devourer or Foolish Advice being played then the situation would be basically the same. If Yoke of Iron wasn't played (so Peace Treaty is in battle when Foolish Advice or Devourer is played) then Foolish Advice or Devourer would negate Peace Treaty directly.
