Isaiah's Call and Wheel within a Wheel

Are both these enhancements active all the time after they are placed or only when the character they are on is in battle?  I know their play-as answer the question, but i dont know if this is a "disregard errata disguised as play-as" or not.  if the play-as is correct, why is this so?  i see nothing in the enhancements abilities that would make it that way

Also, if an angel with wheel within a wheel is captured and rescued, would he still be portected from doms and therefore protected from FA?

Wheel Within a Wheel (FF2)

While it remains there, protect that Hero from opponents’ Dominants and has Site access

Isaiah's Call (FF2)

They're active outside of battle. WWW only protects heroes, not captured heroes. I think it might get DC'd when the hero is captured; it surely gets discarded when rescued.

It gets discarded neither, and it stops working neither (Angels don't stop being Angels when they're captured, and Isaiah doesn't stop being Isaiah).
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

It's not that they stop being Angels, but they do stop being Heroes (they become "captured Heroes") so I would agree with Rawr that W3 would no longer protect the angel if it was captured.

The card is Discarded, it shouldn't matter.
Call & W3 are discarded if the holder is captured. Call only works in Battle because it states 'While in Battle' but W3 stays in play as long as it's on the Holder.
Does that answer the question?
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

To be extra clear on what I meant, the part after the colon never turns off on either of them like it would if they stopped being an Angel or stopped being Isaiah. It's just that it doesn't do anything.

@Megaman, you're incorrect. Placed cards are not Discarded if their bearers are captured. That's weapons.

Polarius corrected me once about captured characters with placed cards, and I have to agree after researching.  Unless I'm missing something, placed cards stay with captured characters.  They stay there until the card they are on leaves play.

But yes, if a card says "while in battle" then the card does not work unless it is in battle.  So Call should not work on a captured hero.

As far as I know, WWW should not work either, as in it should not protect from dominants, because it reads: "Place on your angel: That Hero is protected from opponents’ Dominants and has Site access."  It may still be an angel, but it is not a Hero anymore (it is a captured hero, which is different).

**Instaposted by Polarius

Right, they're still Angels, but the wording is such that it shouldn't protect *points up*

Correct. There are two things at play here.

Place cards are structured like this: "Place on X. While on X: Y" If a place card is no longer on X (an Angel, Isaiah, whatever X needs to be) then Y turns off. In these cases, Y is still working, it's just not doing anything because the Angel isn't a Hero and Isaiah isn't in battle.

I was researching for another thread and stumbled across this,  WWW should not protect outside battle because the card does not say while in play, so it should only trigger in battle.  I thought we disregard errata disguised as play as.

The colon in a place ability is shorthand for "while it remains there." It is on the card, it's just signposted instead of explicitly stated.

Ah yes, it was late and I missed the colon.  Thanks. :)
