Title: Patience TEC card question
Post by: redemption collector 777 on January 19, 2016, 01:06:58 PM
Patience SA:

Place on your clay or green Hero: At the end of your turn, if you did not use a draw or search ability, search a deck for a Lost Soul or Hero and put it in play.

1. In a type 2 game if 2 copies of patience were placed on 2 heroes in a territory , and then that player ends their turn without using a search or draw ability , can that player search for 2 heroes or Lost Souls or just 1?

They would both trigger. End of turn triggers check and if their requirements have been satisfied then they are triggered. It is up to the player who controls them in what order they trigger. I think the thought is, "If one triggers, does the second one trigger because a search ability has been carried out?" However, the check happens at the same time, not one then the other.

Travis is correct that they will both trigger.

As I understand it, abilities also check to ensure the proper conditions are met when they resolve. If that's accurate, then the 2nd copy won't actually work because a search has now been performed with the 1st.

Gabe is correct that the condition has to be met when the ability resolves. So the first patience will cause the second to fizzle

Ok...I understand the trigger. So the second one, even though it triggered, doesn't check until it is carried out? Am I understanding that correctly?

Yes. Both Patiences will trigger at the end of the turn. The player chooses which one to resolve first. It checks the condition. If the condition is true, the player gets to use the search. Then the player resolves the other one, which checks the condition again, and now finds that the condition is no longer true so the player does not get a second search.
