How is ownership defined?

If I band to my opponents Hero, does that hero become "mine" for the battle? Would it be protected by enhancements that say: "...protect your heroes..."?

What if I exchange? (Stalks of Flax)

own = the person whose deck the card is from
your = a card you own + control
