Quick check of the REG gives us the definition of "Defeat" (which I believe is the language on PW).

Quote
Defeat
A Hero is defeated when:
● The Hero is removed from the field of battle because of a special ability.
● The battle ends with the Hero being discarded by the numbers of the Evil Character(s) in
battle (except in the case of a mutual destruction).
● The battle ends in a stalemate.

Based on this, it's pretty clear the Hero is not captured.
