Title: Order of Special abilities and more
Post by: Pike11 on May 07, 2013, 10:37:13 AM
1. Let's say I go for a rescue attempt with a hero that has a special ability, and my opponent defends with a character with a special ability. At what point are each of the character's special abilities activated?

2. Let's say my opponent is going for a rescue attempt on a captured hero. I defend with Salome which says "Discard a captured Hero or the top card of opponent's deck" and I discard the hero they are trying to rescue. What happens at this point? Does the battle phase finish? What are the options of any? Would this also apply to a LS?

Thanks

1. Abilities activate when the character enters battle.

2. In Type 1 any available soul can be rescued. In Type 2 this would be considered a succsessful block as the rescuing player must announce which LS they want to rescue aka Rescuer's Choice.

For number 2, to clarify, the battle phase doesn't end immediately if the souls become unavailable to rescue. The battle turns from a "rescue attempt" to a "battle challenge." The normal rules of battle are still followed, but no soul will be rescued.

Battles can also turn from battle challenges to rescue attempts (in Type 1) if during the course of battle, a new Lost Soul enters play or if protection on a soul is negated.
