Sites, Fortress, Artifacts??

I use to play a while back and just got back in it and some of the rules have changed.

1. The new editions has sites, artifacts, and fortress. I need someone to explain in laymens terms how to use these. The rule book is to confusing for me.

2. If a card is played that says "discard all Evil Enhancements in battle" Then you thrown a card that says, "Nagate and Discard last enhancement played" Does that mean that you get to keep all your previous enhancements or do you still have to discard them?

Thank you in advance for all the help.

Hi SHsmith, and welcome back to the game.  I'll give you a very basic understanding of the cards you asked about.  There are nuances that I'll leave out, but this will give you the idea.

Sites are just placed in your territory during your prep phase, and then you can put a LS in them if you like.  Once a LS is in a site, then it can only be rescued by a hero of matching brigade (or a hero that has a special ability that gives them access, or a hero that has brought another site of matching brigade into battle with them).

Artifacts are also placed in your territory during your prep phase, and you choose whether you want them to be active or inactive.  If they are inactive, then place them face down in a pile.  If they are active, then place them face up and do whatever they say in their special ability.  You can only have 1 artifact active each turn (unless you have other cards that allow them to be active somewhere else).

Fortresses are also placed in your territory (or set aside if the fortress says to) during your prep phase, and you can have as many of these down as you like.  They are always active, and you just do whatever their special ability says.

2. If a card is played that says "discard all Evil Enhancements in battle" Then you thrown a card that says, "Nagate and Discard last enhancement played" Does that mean that you get to keep all your previous enhancements or do you still have to discard them?
If their card that discarded all your EEs is negated, then all your previous EEs would return to battle.

Just an additional clarification: The Field of Play diagram seems to show a pile of territories face down and one face-up on top (like artifacts). Is this the proper way to understand territories (that only one can be "active" in play, whatever that means, besides those containing a LS)?

Also, you mentioned a Hero bringing a territory with them into battle (which the rulebook also does). How does this work (i.e. do I just say "I declare this rescue attempt and place this territory with my Hero" and then put a territory into battle from anywhere, or only from my pile, only an "active" one, if they work that way)?

You mean Site. A Site can be placed into battle at any point, which then grants you access to all Sites with the same brigade. If you place a Multi-Color Site in battle, you get access to all Sites in play. They return to your territory after the battle. (Unless its discarded or removed somehow)
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game
