No character in battle questions

If there are no characters in battle due to an ability, such as a discard all cards in battle ability or Grapes when you cant start another RA, could you use something like you will remain or faith of david to add a hero to battle?

Also, if you RA with a hero banded to a king and the king is then discarded by the EC's ability, can you still draw and play a card with throne since your king was blocked?

1. If you are the one using grapes it won't trigger your own YWR, otherwise yes.

2. I believe so.

The Battle Phase is broken up into 4 steps:
A-Place Hero in Battle, then activate SA
B-Opponent places an EC in battle, then activate SA
C-Check for initiatives (normal, dominant, and special)
D-End the Battle (no more cards can be played here, discard defeated characters, transfer rescued lost if applicable, and then return successful characters back to territory)

Grapes of Wrath would be played in step "c" Once it has resolved, there are no characters in battle, so go to step "d." There is nothing to resolve on this step, so You begin a New Battle Phase and start back with step "a"

In other situations (not GoW), You Will Remain, is essentially a "delayed trigger." The card says "If an opponent uses a 'end of the battle' ability . . ." This would trigger as soon as your opponent plays that ability in step "c." You end the battle in step "d" and start back with a new battle phase and step "a."

YWR has another ability "if an opponent removes your last hero in battle, you may remove this from the game to add your hero to the battle." My understanding is that this ability must be used in step "c" from a discard ability. Because you have not entered step "d" (resolving the battle phase), the battle continues.

An experience play should chime in, but i dont think you can activate YWR during battle resolution when your hero is being discarded after defeated,  because the battle is already over. You would simply be adding it after the 2 part of Battle Resolution (YWR's second ability does not let you start a new rescue attempt, just add a character to the empty field from a "delayed trigger")

You are correct that YWR doesn't trigger if your last Hero is discarded by numbers because that does occur during battle resolution but Grapes doesn't inherently have anything to do with resolving the battle (unless the new battle trigger is used). The card that comes to mind that matters for it Gates of Hell though.

Remember to post abilities, sometimes they will answer the question for you...

As you can see, Faith of David cannot add a Hero if an EC is not blocking. Since the situation you describe is an empty battle field, there is no EC blocking at that point.

You Will Remain can be used as long as it was not your ability that removed your Hero(es).

Throne does not trigger if there is no King in battle when EC abilities resolve (another example would be Complainers exchanging the King back to the owner's territory for a non-King Hero).

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

I think Throne should trigger if the king is removed from battle, but your play options are limited if there's not a purple Hero in battle.

I don't think an EC should block a Hero that enters battle after it does (as would be the case if Complainers blocks the Hero exchanged into battle).
