Title: New Ruling Question - Evil Doms
Post by: megamanlan on March 22, 2012, 12:50:49 AM
My understanding of the New rules was No Evil Doms on the 1st turn, (The player who doesn't draw) but not on the 1st Round.
Is it the first turn or first round?

neither the rule was dropped in favor of an errata to mayhem. You may no longer play mayhem in the first round.

As far as I understand, the rule stands.

You understand incorrectly.

Mayhem has been errata'd to state "If it is not the first round"....

Evil dominants cannot be played in the first round.  This MAY also apply to good dominants, but that part is still being clarified.
Rather, Mayhem gets the following errata:  If it is not the first round, each player must shuffle hand to draw six.

Nope, it doesn't, Mayhem has an errata instead.

EDIT: INSTAPOSTED

Incorrect as others have said, here is the current post from the Sticky at the top of this section:

1.  Dominant cap is the same as the Site cap.  You cannot include more dominants in a deck than you have lost souls.  [Remember that the Hopper Lost Soul does not count as a lost soul in deck-building.  So, adding the Hopper to your deck does not allow you to add an extra site or dominant.]

2.  You cannot rescue lost souls in your own Land of Bondage.  This used to apply only to your heroes.  Now it includes dominants, too.

3.  Hosts are allowed to run their (local and district level) tournaments with this even more restrictive deck building rule for dominants:
Type 1: Max 2 good and 2 evil doms in deck
Type 2: Max 3 good and 3 evil doms in deck

***************
"I (Rob) will update the host application tomorrow so the host can mark if he or she is running a "restricted" event in place of the regular event.  RNRS will go into the same pot.  This is a test and is not required of the host and only for smaller level tournaments.  I will also note if the category is retricted on the Tournament Listing page on the Cactus site.  If any host wants to modify an already posted event to use restrictive deck building rules, send me an email and I will update the listing."
***************

4.  Evil dominants cannot be played in the first round.  This MAY also apply to good dominants, but that part is still being clarified.
Rather, Mayhem gets the following errata:  If it is not the first round, each player must shuffle hand to draw six.

Slight correction: You can play Mayhem on the first round, but it won't do anything.

Personally I like when my opponent plays mayhem when I was intending to anyway. I get the same effect, and i still have my mayhem in my deck in case I need it later.

I would have preferred it to be 'You can only play Mayhem after the Upkeep Phase.' But I liked the No Evil Doms 1st turn rule. Mainly because I don't like CM or Burial played 1st Round either.

The 'no evil dominants during the first round' rule is not a rule. As people have said, Mayhem is the only evil dominant affected.

Or you do get an EC and they have an AoTL.  Either way glad they fixed it.

I do that a lot too, but I still don't like it.
