Here are some things that are confusing to me about the new REG:
Any ability that adds a character to battle is a banding ability. But if a banding ability brings a character
into battle on a side of battle where a character is not present at that point it is not a banding action but
rather a blocking action.
So does this mean that Unknown Nation is a banding ability, even if there are no EC's in battle? Why do we need to differentiate banding ability and banding action? If a card negates all banding abilities, would it stop UN even if there is no EC in battle yet? That seems odd to me.
Also, doesn't the "blocking action" terminology restrict possible abilities that would allow a Hero to come into battle with no other hero yet? Also, how does that apply to "Lay Down Your Life"?
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Blue • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: If holder's Hero is about to be discarded, discard Hero. Holder may place another Hero of the same brigade from his territory into battle. All previous enhancements stay in play. • Errata: If a Hero is discarded this battle, discard Hero to allow holder to place another Hero of the same brigade from his territory into battle. All previous enhancements stay in play. • Identifiers: NT, Depicts a Weapon • Verse: John 15:13 • Availability: Apostles booster packs (Uncommon)
Next,
If there are first strike abilities on both sides of battle the side of battle that activated a first strike ability
first gets the first opportunity to move the battle away from the mutual destruction state. If that side of
battle is unable to move the battle away from the mutual destruction state, the other side of battle then
gets a chance
I don't understand what this is saying. So if I attack with Ehud (has FS) and my opponent blocks with Galba + Rome (has FS) Ehud gets to play the first enhancement? I've always heard it ruled that the person with FS first is winning, so the other side would have initiative. Also, this explanation doesn't say what happens if the battle were to end with just those two characters.
And this,
An ignore ability has four parts: (1) an Ignore special ability grants the ignoring card immunity to all cards being
ignored and (2) the ignored cards immunity to the ignoring card. Additionally (3) Characters that are ignored and
are not in battle cannot enter battle (you can not choose to bring them into battle and they cannot be targeted by
an ability that would bring them into battle), and (4) characters that are ignored and are already in battle are
treated as though they were not in battle for purposes of determining battle outcome.
So if ignore has an immune ability associated with it, does negating immunity make it so that the ignoree can harm the ignorer or vice versa?
And this,
A card that is immune cannot be targeted by an ability, other than a negate or interrupt ability, that is on a card it
is immune to or on a card played on a character it is immune to. Additionally when comparing the strength of one
character to the toughness of a second character that is immune to the first character, the strength of the first
character is treated as zero unless it is negative.
I think that last phrase could be confusing, especially since a character's strength is often referred to in abilities. Why not just say that the strength of the character "immunee" has no effect on the immune character.
