Title: Never noticed this before..........
Post by: Alpho on August 04, 2010, 08:39:44 PM
Assyria's Tribute. I always thought that when you blocked with a Assyrian it would negate the heroes and the heroes enhancements. But as I read the card more carefully I noticed it does not say good enhancements it just says enhancements. Does that mean that it would negate the Heroes special ability and ALL enhancements or just good enhancements?

Assyria's Tribute

Type: Artifact • Brigade: • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: While you are blocking with an Assyrian, negate all special abilities on Enhancements and Heroes. Cannot be negated during the battle phase. May be used twice per game. • Identifiers: None • Verse: II Kings 17:3

If so then when you use this the only special ability that would work is your evil character's. Right?

Thanks

Alpho

you would usually use it with King Tiglath Pileaser3 and king Sargon and the other big guys or some one appropriate to play Forgotten History on.

but you would not be able to use forgotten history because wouldn't Assyria's Tribute negate that?

Any enhancement/SA that is CBN (Cannot Be Negated) will continue to work.  One of the few exceptions to that rule would be playing Sapphira's Deceit on Sapphira.  The enhancement technically can be negated, but it's a name on name bonus, so when played on Sapphira it's basically CBN...  unless I'm wrong, but the same would then apply for Super Moses.

This is not true. The Women's pack version of Deceit of Sapphira will still be negated if played on her. Name on Name bonus ONLY applies to the Numbers on a card (their Abilities, not their Special Abilities).

The newer reprint of Deceit of Sapphira "Cannot be prevented by an evil card" so it can still work if played on Sapphira. ;)

Then using CoM on Moses is also negated by Moses?  That's kind of lame.  According to the reg, the only thing that DOUBLES is the numbers, but it doesn't state whether or not a character can negate their own enhancement... that's mutiny in my book!! For that ye be swabbing the poop deck before ye get pushed off the forecastle (Pronounced Foc'sole)!!

There's too many cards with the acronym CoM, so I'm not sure which one you're referring to :P

"The special ability of the enhancement remains the same." (http://redemptionreg.com/REG/default.htm?turl=nameonnamebonus1.htm) Seems pretty clear to me, though.

Also, Talk Like a Pirate Day's not 'til September, ye' lan' lubber!

Then yes, the special ability on Covenant with Moses (http://redemptionreg.com/REG/covenantwithmoses.htm) is negated if played as an enhancement on the FBN Moses.

Assyria's Tribute is primarily useful for the big number guys to win by the numbers, as the KoalaKing pointed out. However, there are other ways to get your pale green enhancements CBN (i.e. Asherah Pole, or having an Assyria Site with King Sargon II).

FWIW, Covenant of Moses on Moses gives you a 22/14 FBTN scenario. That will be difficult to beat at least half the time.
