Title: Negating Side Battles

Can I negate a special ability in a side battle, that would cause removal, without negating the side battle card itself?

You mean can you play like freedom on an ec in the main battle on a hero in the side battle? Yeah.

I mean can you negate freedom in the side battle off of a character in the main battle without negating the side battle card itself. I know that you have to wait until the side battle resolves, I am just wondering if you can negate it then.

No, it's not your initiative to negate those cards first of all, because the other battle is now over. Secondly, since those cards are now discarded and out of play, you can't negate them anyways.
