Negating negation

Benjamin: Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Blue • Ability: 1 / 1 • Class: None • Special Ability: If all of your human Heroes in play are Genesis Heroes, Genesis Enhancements cannot be negated. Otherwise, discard Benjamin after battle.

King of Tyrus:Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Orange • Ability: 10 / 12 • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate all special abilities on Characters and Enhancements (except this special ability). • Identifiers: OT Male Demon

Abraham’s Servant to Ur: Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Blue • Ability: 2 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: All special abilities except banding on characters and enhancements, except this one, are negated. Battle is determined by the numbers.

I believe I know how this works, and in this case it actually made no difference, but I want to check since this situation may arise where it matters:

I rescue with Benjamin. Opponent blocks with KoT. I have only Genesis heroes in play, and play AStU. Since "cannot be negated" means cannot be negated, AStU's SA kicks in and negates KoT. Net effect is exactly the same, but it's AStU that is changing the field now.

Is this correct? I could see a similar situation coming up against a "negate all except banding" character, in which the banding would then be negated.

(Working to get my judging chops up to par before we start hosting tournaments in January.)

KoT negates Benjamin thus AStU is not protected from negation and would be negated as well, so the field would stay the same.

That's not true.  Benjamin's abilities and the Gen enhancements he plays cannot be negated.  DDiceRC, you are correct that AStU is now the negating force.

browarod, "cannot be negated" abilites cannot be negated themselves.

Indeed. The net result here is that all SA are being negated except banding and any enhancement played by Benjamin.

Ben is epic against FBTN, because hes either CBN, or the FBTN negates his self discard.  :D

Of course, we are hopeful that you have a battle winner hiding in your hand, because Benjamin with Abe's Servant is not much good against King of Tyrus, and now the King can band if he needs to.  ;)

Actually, this was something my son and I were speculating about. Since Ben lets you play any of the good Genesis enhancements without negation, you don't really need AStU to make it work. We just started having fun witht he combos.

since like, forever.

I tried arguing that one version of Mike could be negated, but the reason it cant is because that causes confusing loops.

Say mike or ben could be negated. I play an enhancement on one of them that becomes CBN. I negate the heros ability, then the enhancement becomes negateable, i negate their enhancement, but then they negate my negate on their hero, then what happens...

Its so much simpler to just say that any ability that grants another card CBN status, cannot be negated in itself.
