Negating Go Into Captivity

Since you can negate a Magic Charms in battle with ITB and you can apparently play Lying Unto God to get rid of Crown of Thorns if the decrease is discarding your EC in battle, can you play a card (like Scapegoat) that negates Curses to stop Go Into Captivity from capturing your hero?

Scapegoat:
If used by a High Priest, remove from the game this card to negate and discard all evil Enhancements and Curses in play. Cannot be negated.

Go Into Captivity:
When holder chooses, if your warrior class Evil Character is in battle then you may discard this card to capture any Hero.

I would say no, since GIC discards itself before being used, making it not in play. If not, then you could probably also use a Foreign Sword to negate an Unholy Writ that is capturing you, which would be awesome.

Magic Charms does the same thing.  So does that make ITB the only way to stop Charms (if it's in battle), or could you use Foreign Sword?

I actually am not sure. Combination of tired and vaguely remembering a strange ruling at Nats.

Changes to Interrupt the Battle
This definition is being expanded to include all card types your opponent has in battle that are causing the removal of your Hero. Ex: Magic Charms discarded from a Magician in battle can be interrupted by an Interrupt the Battle card.

I would like to know as well if GiC played in battle can be interrupted.

If you discard magic charms from your magician in battle (instead of territory), it can be interrupted. My thoughts on going into captivity is that since its discard from territory and not battle its CBN. Just my two cents.
We must be the change we want to see.

Based on the new ITB rule, the answer is yes IF GiC is causing removal.

...and in battle.

Scapegoat cannot target a discarded GiC because it only targets cards in play.

ITB will interrupt the ability that is removing you if that ability comes from a card in battle, that's why you can ITB a Magic Charms on a Magician in battle. If GiC is played in battle then ITB can target it too. If it's played as an Artifact then neither Scapegoat or ITB can target it.
