Negating Convert Abilities During Battle

If you target an opposing evil character in battle with a Convert ability, this would send him to their controller's territory, if I'm reading the REG right.

If there is another evil character still in battle, then if the Convert ability is negated, does the converted evil character return to battle since that's where he was when he was targeted by the convert and the battle is still ongoing? If so, does his ability activate at that time? I didn't see any info in the REG about what happens when a Convert ability is negated.

He would go back into battle, but the ability would not reactivate.

Makes sense, thank you. How do we confirm this in REG or rules, though?

Quote
A negate effect undoes active or completed abilities, or completing effects of abilities, and keeps the ability and
its effects from ever completing

From the REG. It doesn't say anything specific about convert, but this is from negate. It simply says to undo the effects of the other ability. So the convert removes the character from battle, so you bring it back to battle to the state it was in before. Basically, as much as you can, you undo anything affected by the negated ability. The negate isn't playing the character into battle, it's just undoing the removal from battle, so the ability doesn't activate.

Also good to note since I sense there may be confusion, if your last character is being converted you still have special initiative to negate the convert before your character is actually converted.

And there's no special initiative if only one of many characters is being removed/converted/captured, is that right?

Correct:

In Reg under Special Initiative:

When a player is controlling character(s) in battle and a completing effect of an opponent’s ability, or a game rule that has been triggered by an effect of an opponent’s ability, would leave that player with no character in battle when the effect has completed, they have Special Initiative.
