Order of play...

In a different thread recently, the order in which abilities happen when blocking was posted:

Quote
When a single card has more than one special ability (including gained abilities), and an order is not specified, perform the abilities in this order:

1. First, complete all printed special abilities in the order written on the card EXCEPT those that add a character to the battle.

2. Then complete all gained abilities (gained in set-aside or on previous turn, etc.), EXCEPT those that add a character to the battle.

3. Then, complete all weapon abilities.

4. Then, complete banding abilities.

5. Last, complete choose blocker abilities.

This got me thinking....

I use an Assyrian defense (like everyone else  ::) ), and I started wondering how this would effect my banding characters.  As it shows above, WC enh come before banding.  Here's the situation I have in my head that I need clarification on:

I have an Assyrian Archer with Two Thousand Horses and the Rabshakeh withOUT 2kh in my territory.  My opponent begins a RA against me.

I put my AA into battle and begin to activate his abilities in order.

I look at the beginning (Banding) but skip it because of #1 above: "1. First, complete all printed special abilities in the order written on the card EXCEPT those that add a character to the battle."

So I move on to the discard ability and decide to use it or not (I don't think either way effects the scenario).

After this, I move to the WC enh.  I draw two and am now stuck without knowing what to do.

I have Forgotten History that I am wanting to play...but I want to band my Rabshakeh in first....  But in the order above, I have to finish the ability of the WC enh before I can use my banding ability to get Rab in....  Is this how it is supposed to be done?  Maybe I am being too analytical and thinking too hard...but I don't see why the ability of an enh should stink itself between different abilities of a character....

Anyway, moving on in the thought, I can't get Rab in and my #s are such that if I use FH, I die...but if I don't play it then and move on to banding abilities, I can get Rab in, but don't get to play an enh which basically defeats the whole point of having 2kh in battle.

Again, perhaps this scenario is exactly right and I've just never been a aware of this til now....  Could someone clarify?

You band rab in AFTER you play the enh.
Not quite a ghost...but not quite not.

That's what I thought this was saying...but that just seems odd to me....  Is that supposed to be how it is?

Yes. This is how it is supposed to function.

Your example is a bit odd because FH ends the battle in the middle of the abilities. However, the way you described it is accurate. WC enhs come first, meaning if you wish to play an enh off of 2kh, you must do it before banding, or else forfit your ability to play an enhancement.
