SA: Multiply the abilities on a hero card by the number of Evil characters in battle.
Example: if one hero (10/10) was in battle and was blocked by 5 Evil characters and hero plays multitude 5 x 10 = 50/50
then the blockers band 4 more evil characters into battle does the abilities increase to 90/90 now?
1. In other words does multitude check once for how many evil characters in battle or is the check ongoing and updates to how many Evil characters are present in the battle?

Multitude is an instant increase ability, not an ongoing ability. It checks how many evil characters are in battle when it activates and uses that as the multiplier.

I have looked in-depth at this, and would agree that it is instant. It checks at the moment of the playing of the card, since it has a one-time and instant effect.
And while I cannot find any other thread mentioning it, that should mean that this is a permanent increase as well.

Logic would dictate that it would have to be a one time check. Otherwise once the hero defeated the last EC in battle the multiplier would drop to 0 killing the hero.
