For number 2, what if it is a Simeon banded to Jacob? Does Jacob fight with Simeon to kill the EC blocking? No. So, for ease, it is ruled that convert returns to territory.

So is it untrue that you can convert this character with Holy Grail, when Evil Spirit is used against him/her?

There wouldn't be much of a point, since Holy Grail's play as says you have to convert someone in territory.
oh that why i'm confused, because it does push you to territory where you become a legal target for Grail. ok, so timing issues ok here as well? Because Evil Spirit states until end of battle, and the battle doesnt resolve until both player agree due to removal by special ability, and this gives the player initiative to covert with Grail?

It'd be an interesting way to change the brigade color of one of your opponent's heroes though.
Instant Abilities > ConvertHow to UseEvil Characters may only be converted to Hero brigade colors (i.e., blue, green, purple, red, silver, teal, white, and gold). The only exception is Saul/Paul (as Saul), whose natural brigade color is multicolor when a Hero. When no color is specified on a conversion enhancement card, the character converts to the same brigade color as the conversion enhancement card. The converted character remains under the control of its owner. The character reverts to its original state only if the card is returned to the draw pile, placed in the discard pile, or converted back. The character remains converted even if set aside, captured, or rescued. Rules for duplicate characters still apply.
