Hey,
If I activate Burial Shroud and then make a battle challenge, and during the battle challenge my opponent uses Casting Lots on themselves and activate their Covenant of Moses. Does Burial Shroud count as being used once because it was active without being negated during the entire preparation phase, or does it not count as being used because it wasn't active for a whole turn?

I vote the latter.

I vote for the first, we may need Hake for this one :o But why with all the Casting Losts questions?? Its not like any one is using Casting Lots against you :P
-
I'm pretty sure it is the first as it was active a whole phase without negation.

I'm testing the "boundary conditions" if you will, of Redemption. In this case with respect to how artifacts interact with the passing of phases. Casting Lots was just used as an example. Because of it's strange ability it can create unique situations that address questions that are close to the "boundary conditions" of Redemption.

the new set must really be interesting and fun! ;)

I agree with Brandon & Kirk -- only one phase is needed for it to count.

+1. B.S. is activated in the prep phase, not negated, then negated in the battle phase.
