converted Archers of Kedar and David's Harp

Ok, weird situation today. Archers of Kedar is an evil character with the SA that I may discard a hero in a territory, but if I do, Archers of Kedar is discarded at end of battle regardless of outcome. Now, they became converted during the match and so I made a rescue attempt with them. I assumed conversion doesn't change or remove their SA so I used it. Here's where the interesting part comes in. I had David's Harp in play and activated which says that if a Hero would be discarded at the end of battle I may choose instead to place them on top of their owner's draw pile (i.e. my draw pile). So would I be able to use the DH ability on them since they are now technically a Hero and are to be discarded at the end of battle?

Good question, and I think that "IF" the SA on the archer converted, then you are right that David's Harp would be able to put them back on top of your deck.

However, when evil characters are converted, their SA ONLY convert if they do NOT target heroes.  Since the archer's SA DOES target heroes, it does NOT convert with him.

Also a bonus ruling in case it comes up later:
If a hero is converted to an evil character their SA NEVER converts with them.

oh neat. Thought it was weird that a "Hero" could kill other Heros. Good to know the other ruling too, makes a lot of sense actually. Thanks.

This actually leads into a different, but related, rule question.

Say you are blocking with Archers of Kedar (or a different evil archer) and you discard a hero. Then during the battle the Archer get converted during the battle (with one of the many convert enhancements available) and when the battle ends the Archer, which is now a hero, is discarded, could you then use David's Harp to return it to the top of your deck?

I'd assume you could, but I think it is at the very least an interesting (although fairly rare) situation.
If you are reading this signature, thank a physicist.

I'd have to see the actual text of David's Harp to make sure, but I think so.

David's Harp
Following a rescue attempt holder may select one Hero that is about to be discarded and place Hero on top of owner's draw pile.  Prevent Evil Spirit.

I'd also agree.  It does not say they must be a hero at the START of battle, it only targets AFTER the RA.
