Limits of "Cannot Be Prevented"

Intent to Kill
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 6 / 0 • Class: None • Special Ability: Discard an evil card from hand to discard one Hero in battle. Cannot be prevented by a good card

Can a card with a s/a 'cannot be prevented' such as ItK be negated?

Yes.  Can't be prevented can be negated or interrupted afterwards.

Prevent stops an ability before it takes place.  If a card can't be prevented then you can't stop the ability from happening before it's played.  Once it's played it fair game to be interrupted/negated.

Here's an example:

You rescue with Benaiah.  I block with a little black Character.  I play the "Can't be Prevented" enhancement Intent to Kill.  Benaiah's ability is trying to stop it but it can't so he would be discarded.  You now have initiative because you're being removed from battle.   You play Benaiah Snatches a Spear to negate Intent to Kill.  Benaiah Snatches a Spear works because it's played after Intent to Kill.

Benaiah
Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Green • Ability: 8 / 8 • Class: None • Special Ability: All special abilities on character cards and enhancement cards except this one are interrupted and prevented. Battle is determined by the numbers.

Intent to Kill
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 6 / 0 • Class: None • Special Ability: Discard an evil card from hand to discard one Hero in battle. Cannot be prevented by a good card.

Benaiah Snatches a Spear
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Green • Ability: 1 / 1 • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate one evil enhancement in battle. Add the numbers on that enhancement to this Hero for remainder of turn. Cannot be negated.

Gabe has done a much better job at explaining, so my previous post was sucked into a Black Hole.

Thanks. I had no idea that a 'cannot be prevented' ability could be played in a by the numbers scenerio. Really appreciate your time.

Cannot be prevented = Cannot be stopped before played; Can be stopped after played
Cannot be interrupted  = Cannot be stopped after played; Can be stopped before played
Cannot be negated = Cannot be stopped before or after played.
