Should Mary be considered a musician?
Only if she is in battle with Peter and Paul.*  ;)

The elders discussed it at length before the last REG update and concluded that Mary is not a musician.
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

"At length" is an understatement ;)  As far as Magnificat, it is a canticle that was adopted by the Church as a song.  Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis are cards that "involve music" because they were (and are) used by the Christian Church as the basis for music.  However, their initial utterances are not considered musical in nature for Redemption purposes.  Poetic, perhaps, but not music.

Luke 1:46 begins "And Mary said," not "And Mary sang," and Luke 2:28 begins "Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying," not "Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, singing."  Nowhere in those sections is it explicit that there was any singing or creation of something intended to be sung or accompanied by instruments.  Those passages became important songs to the Church, and that is why the cards based on them "involve music."  However, those who initially said those words cannot be considered musicians on that basis alone; there has to be some evidence of them writing songs to be performed as music or writing passages that are clearly intended to be read as musical songs.  We don't have any of that evidence here, so the current ruling (based on a lot of research and discussions) is that they are not musicians.

Thanks for that edifying clarification :)

I don't appreciate your negativity. The first time ever I saw your face I knew you would be trouble. If I had my way, you'd be flying out on a jet plane. Did you really think we would just hold hands and sing kumbaya? Get real.
