Side battles are fun
And I figure others are going to post before I'm done, BUT I DON'T CARE I LOVE THESE POSTS! DETAILS INCOMING!
Okay, first, I'm going to link to each card in the Wiki so that people can see all abilities.
Main battle:
Israelite Archer enters battle, discards
Emperor Galba from territory. He then bands to
Ehud (assumed version), which I can only assume targets
Emperor Tiberius since you have choose the blocker, but doing so while having
Destruction of Nehushtan in hand...
But that's beside the point.
Anyway, Tiberius now underdecks DoN. The Heroes are losing, and they play
Sword against Sword. Now, here is where we hit a fork...who played Sword? Scenario 1 has it played on Ehud, since that's the smart choice. Scenario 2 has it played on Archer, since that is technically legal but wrong on so many levels.
Scenario 1 - Sword played on EhudWhy does this matter? Ehud is a Judges Hero, so Sword is CBN. We'll see why this is important later.
In any case, the attacker chooses their champion in
Ishbibenob (the only version that can play Black), and they control Ishy. The opponent, since they controlled Tiberius in the main battle, controls him in the side battle. Inexplicably, the defender passes initiative instead of playing the enhancement to be discussed later (attacker added cards to battle last, so it is defenders initiative in stalemate).
But okay, now, the attacker holding Ishy plays
Bringing Fear, whose ability is above. Now, this
cannot negate a Choose the Blocker by Ehud done pre-block, if this was done, so that is a moot point. However, this
immediately does the following:
1. Negates Archer
a) Kicks Ehud out of battle.
b) Brings Galba back to territory.
2. Negates Ishbibenob
a) If he discarded someone, they are back.
3. Negates Tiberius
a) DoN immediately returns to hand.
Now, in this scenario, the wise attacker (who is negating his stuff too) had played Sword on Ehud, so it is CBN and the side battle is not negated. But, Tiberius responds with
Expelling the Jews, which give him good numbers (10/17) to bring a stalemate against Ishy + Fear (11/15). He does
not, however, return any Heroes. Expelling specifies "in battle" which is the
current battle, so it just gives numbers. It would have to say Field of Battle otherwise.
If nothing else is played, side battle ends in stalemate, Ishy returns to territory, Tiberius goes back to the main battle where he is beating up on a lonely Archer.
Scenario 2 - ...why did this happen?!In this scenario, we start with "wise attacker" above, but replace that with "whoopsie." Sword is not CBN, and thus the side battle is immediately negated. Fear is CBN, and it cannot cascade-negate itself anyways, so we end up with this still:
1. Negates Archer
a) Kicks Ehud out of battle.
b) Brings Galba back to territory.
2. Negates Ishbibenob
a) If he discarded someone, they are back.
3. Negates Tiberius
a) DoN immediately returns to hand.
But IMMEDIATELY the side battle is over (never happened really) and Tiberius is back in battle, beating up on a lonely Archer. He does not get a chance to play Expelling, unless Archer plays something to pass initiative.
SEE! I TOLD YOU, FUN!
