lost soul 2 liner/3 liner

Can you use Burial on these LS? I wanted to bury the 2 liner so my opponant  would have no LS to rescue on their next turn. She said I could only bury half of it! What about the 3 liner? I know if half is rescued you can bury it. Which seems you are still burying 2 LS. Please Help!

Yes, you can bury the entire 2/3-Liner with one Burial, even if it's half rescued. Practically everyone does it. :P

Technically,  you can only bury half of it.  but the effect is the same.  Since either the 2 liner or the 3 liner "Must be rescued twice" if you cannot rescue it twice then it is effectively keeping it from being rescued at all.  since it cannot be rescued with half of it buried, it is sent to the d/c pile and the rescued half follows its buried half to the d/c pile.

Also Fallign away works on these LS in a similar way.  If the 2 or 3 liner is rescued and you play falling away on that LS then half of it becomes "un rescued" and the whole thing comes back to your LoB half rescued.  if you were to play burial on it then, you would have effectively takne 2 LS with one Falling Away.

Beleive me, that is fun to do.

Crustpope you bury the whole thing, no matter if it is the two/three line.  That has never been done in any game I have ever played and has been ruled at tourneys in such.

Burial only buries one lost soul so it only buries half of the Lost Souls card, but since one Lost can never be rescued (because it is buried) you discard the whole card.  it is a technicality but the effect is the same.

Im sorry, but I have to disagree.  Can we get an official ruling on this because this is going to change the way the game is being played a lot.

Im not sure what the problem is.  Are you saying that Burial Buries the entire Lost Souls card?  Here is the reg quote:

Burial
Type: Grim Reaper • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Discard any Lost Soul in play. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Matthew 27:7

Since soul is singular, I dont see how you can claim that it buries both Lost Souls, but I also go back to my original point.

either way, the effect is the same so why so insistant on the need to bury them both?

When you discard something, you are discarding the card, aren't you? I mean, discard means send to the discard pile, right? You can't just discard part of a card (unless that card is Haman's Plot).

It's the way it has always been played.  it changes the way a lot of people play it.  I want it to be made clear either way that you can either d/c half or d/c whole and if it's half, then it changes the way the game is played.

Cards reset in the discard pile or deck so I'm not sure it matters whether you discard half or "all" of the 2/3 Liner because any existing rescues would be removed when the card resets.

and if it's half, then it changes the way the game is played.

I fail to see how.  You cannot rescue a half buried Lost Souls card because it must be rescued twice. So half or whole what is the difference?

Actually, that is an argument that you cannot use Burial on the Lost Souls Card.  Here is the Logic:

1. Burial discards one Lost Soul.
2. The Lost Souls card counts ast two Lost Souls
Therefore:  Burial Cannot D/C the Lost Souls card.

I always assumed that you only d/c half of the Lost Souls card because that is what I have been told and it sounds Logical.  How you have me thinking that Burial should not be allowed to be used on the Lost Souls card.

I mean come on, if we are literallists, lets be litteralists.  If SoG cannot rescue the NT only LS or the */4 LS then Burial cannot d/c the Lost Souls Card.

Which is part of my original point.  But now I am more of the opinion that Burial cannot be used on the 2/3 liner Lost Souls card because d/c the card actually d/c two lost souls, which Burial cannot do as per the wording on the card.

If you take that logic into action, then the Lost Souls card should count towards two lost souls in the deck.  It's only counted as one so why shouldn't you be able to discard it all at the same time if according to deck building, its still only A lost soul?

Well I know why they only count it as one for deck building purposes, because if you buried the Lost souls card, and then Sog/nj your own LS. that only leaves three Lost souls left for the opponent to rescue.  But I checked the reg there is no "Play as" regarding why it only counts as one LS for deck building purposes but it counts as two LS for redeeming purposes.

So is the official word that you can use Burial on a 2 or 3 Line Lost Soul?
You have to be smarter than it.
