If my opponent plays Christian Martyr outside of battle to discard my Hero, can I play Satan's Folly on my white brigade Hero in my territory to discard one of his Evil Characters or can it only be played in battle to prevent cards like Ancient Evil? Thank you for your clarification.

I believe the answer to this is a "no". The ruling I've seen is that, if it is already on the table, it is an instead ability that would activate. However, it is not actually a healing card, so can't be played that way in territory.
