Location of cards and timing

We weren't sure what to do when this happened.

I make a rescue attempt with a lone hero and he blocks.  I then play an enhancement to band in about 8 characters.  He then plays Christian Suing Another to interrupt and fight me.  Now at this point where are the other heroes?  He said that my banding enhancement was interrupted and wouldn't reactivate until the side battle was over.  My hero wouldn't survive the side battle and the other heros are back in territory because the banding was interrupted so my enhancement would have no one to reactivate on after the side battle.  Is this correct?

If it is, could I play my other banding enhancement in the side battle to band all those same heros back into the side battle?

This is correct - Interrupt takes out the last enhancement used by your opponent, so those heroes are not in battle. You can use your second enhancement in the side battle, And then I'm not sure if the one battle per turn kicks in or not.

If I can band them into the side battle, will they all come back to the main battle?

That's what I'm not sure about... My first gut feeling was that the side-battle counted as thier one battle per-turn. But then I realized that if that's true, then Christian Suing another never works, since the rescuing hero can't enter another battle... So I'm not sure.

I have another question regarding CSA and banding. If my opponent bands in Heroes from their hand, and I play CSA... Can I choose one of those heroes, or do they return to hand until the interrupt finishes?

The one-battle per turn rule does not apply to side battles, for the obvious reason that Idle Gossip and CSA would never work otherwise. The other Heroes are legal targets for banding into the side battle, just as long as they are able to come from their original location (i.e. if the enhancement said band from hand, the heroes could only be brought into the side battle by another banding enhancement that bands from hand, since that is where the heroes are until further notice).  I am fairly certain that any heroes that were banded into a side battle that includes one of the original attackers will join the main battle if the heroes survive the battle, just as any enhancements played in such a side battle would transfer.

I have another question regarding CSA and banding. If my opponent bands in Heroes from their hand, and I play CSA... Can I choose one of those heroes, or do they return to hand until the interrupt finishes?

If the banding is the result of the last enhancement played by your opponent, then you cannot choose a banded hero, because the interrupt happens suspending the effect of the banding enhancement, so the banded hero is not a legal target for the rest of CSA. A similar situation occurs when you use Joseph in Prison following an opponent's Jehoiada's Strength. In this case, your opponent gets lucky with the ItB part of JiP, because JS is interrupted so only the initial attacker(s) is removed.
