List of Musicians plox

Now that they're viable, I want to make a deck to match my profession. List them, official people, and I will make the deck sing.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Unacceptable. The definition is, "anyone who wrote/led a song." BRB Bible, coming back with heaps of new musicians that demand official recognition.

Isaiah (Isaiah 5:1)
Mary (Luke 1:46)
Zacharias (Luke 1:67-68)
Simeon (Luke 2:28-29)

Should be added to the list.

*EDIT* OOh, also St. Patrick. He wrote St. Patrick's Breastplate.

I think you're attempting to expand the theme to much, pushing the boundaries of the definition,

I can't argue with Isaiah, that's fairly solid actually, but as far as Mary, Zach and Simeon go, they weren't leading anyone in worship, and the bible never explicitly states that they wrote songs for others to sing, These are more like 'one-off's'. I'm sure if we expanded it to "Anyone who ever wrote two poetic lines, or Lead worship" we'd have Musicians as one of the largest themes.

...we'd have Musicians as one of the largest themes.

and thats a bad thing? ??? i'd say for one of the themes that has the least support, the definition should be pretty broad (as noted in gabes original post).

The Redemption definition doesn't stipulate that they had to be for other people to sing. It doesn't stipulate that they had to have written more than one song.

Also, if we used that definition, the list wouldn't change to my knowledge. There are quite a few more possible musicians in the Bible, but of the cards that have already been printed, this is it.

The definition that Rob agree upon is "anyone who wrote/lead songs".

Isaiah (Isaiah 5:1) - Only indicates that Isaiah sang a song.  Singing a song by itself doesn't meet the definition.

Mary (Luke 1:46) - This indicates to me that she sang a song, but that's all.  That doesn't make her fit Redemption's definition.

Zacharias (Luke 1:67-68) - Ditto

Simeon (Luke 2:28-29) - Ditto

The scripture passages referenced don't indicate to me that any of these people ever wrote or lead songs.

I've been arguing for an expanded musician list for a while now. I think what we've got is what we're going to get. (My custom hero helps. If I could just use my daughter's female NT musician...)

Isaiah goes out of his way to say that it's a new song. This heavily implies that he wrote it. That one is, imo, ironclad.
For the other three, they don't go out of their way to say they're the ones that wrote the songs, so I could see them not being.

Isaiah 5:1 doesn't even necessarily state that Isaiah sang the song. In modern translations that set poetic text off by indents, that line is part of the poem. No matter what, Isaiah wrote it, but unlike some of the other musicians it doesn't say he taught it to others to sing. Of the four, Isaiah might have the best shot at being classed as a musician, but also of the four he's probably the least useful addition.

The best argument for the latter three is that their songs-the Benedictus, Magnificat, and Nunc Dimittis-are among the hymns. And if singing a song that becomes a Redemption card doesn't qualify you as musician, I don't know what else will.  ;D

The best game play argument for them is that we would then have another female and three NT musicians to help. Having Mary (white) and Simeon (green or gold) would help the current musician colors. A teal musician might not be as helpful, unless we can win the fight to get Trumpet Blast redefined as "involving music."

Musician's Chambers means having a broad spectrum of musician heroes isn't as detrimental as it is to other themes.
