Title: Large Tree+Chemosh
Post by: RTSmaniac on July 18, 2011, 10:09:46 PM
Does Large Tree continue to work if I set king aside with Chemosh?  ;D

Large Tree (TP)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Crimson • Ability: None • Class: Territory • Special Ability: Place on your evil King to search deck for a Site. While this card remains, the King gains 1/1 per turn and cannot be ignored. • Play As: Place on your evil King to search deck for a Site [and place it in your hand]. While this card remains, increase the King 1/1 per turn and the King cannot be ignored. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Daniel 4:22 • Availability: Thesaurus ex Preteritus booster packs ()

Chemosh (Ki)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Brown • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set Evil Character aside. Evil character decreases 0/1 each turn until discarded. At each upkeep, select any Hero in play to decrease 0/2 until discarded. • Play As: Set aside Evil Character. Decrease Evil Character 0/1 each turn until Evil Character is discarded. At each upkeep, select any Hero in play and decrease 0/2 until Hero is discarded. • Identifiers: OT, False Religious Practice • Verse: I Kings 11:7 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Common)

this combo was brought to you by my friend Jose from Ft. Lauderdale, FL

I would say it does, because Large Tree should not quit working in a set-aside area.

I would think so since Large Tree only says "While this card remains" it doesn't make any reference to in play or set-aside.

This is a rather old combo. I don't recall what the final ruling on ongoing cards set aside was, but since Death and Hades can continue to reduce hand size while set aside or even removed from the game, I say it works.

Related question: Do poisons and diseases function while set aside? Large Tree is kind of like an anti-poison, but it seems to function much the same way that poisons and diseases do.

except that after it was ruled a character can only be targeted with only one set aside, it no longer worked. Now...its back! since 2 sets ago and i never noticed. Did I mention it also searches for a site? talk about stall tactics while you snipe some heros. Also, heres the thread where some elders agreed "While it remains" works in setaside area...
