Quick Question:
Can you put Large Tree (TxP) on the Kings of the Earth (RoJ)?
Large Tree states: "Place on your evil king to search deck for a site..."
It seems like you can because it is an evil king, but the only possible catch is that the Kings of the Earth is PLURAL, not a singular king.
(NOTE: Brigade is not a problem because Kings is multi-brigade evil).
So, what do you think?
Thanks
-
Sure. If something targets a Sadducee or Pharisee, it can still hit the ones that represent groups.

Actually, as per the identifier, once you put KotE into play you must pick a nationality and a brigade at that time. He is no longer rainbow brigade (at face-value) because you picked X brigade, which is now mono-brigade. So unless you chose crimson as the brigade you won’t be able to play Large Tree on him.
-
Great clarification that he isn’t multi-evil in play. As long as you have a crimson EC to play Tree on you can still place it on a Kings otE of a different brigade though.

Gabe: Thank you, I didn't catch that. All you need is one crimson character to play the enhancement, and then you can put it on ANY evil king of ANY brigade. Thanks for the clarification.

People have even put it in King of Tyrus IIRC.
-
What if that You played "Large Tree (Txp)" on "Nimrod, the Mighty (CoW)" and then converted him to a hero with "Holy Grail." would Large Tree fall off? The initial target had to be an "evil king," but the ongoing condition only specifies "the king."
-
It remains placed. If the condition isn’t met then you don’t get the benefit though.

Unlike a weapon-class enhancement, which would get converted with a character, territory ones dont get "converted". I see the subtle difference, but then why not make the enhancement "fall off" because the target no longer meets the "requirements"?
-
If the character were converted back, the placed card would again work.
Not to muddy the waters, but in this particular instance, Large Tree might work anyway.
Back in TexP, we had not clearly defined (or even begun) the use of the " : " to signify conditional abilities. As such, Large Tree doesn't use the colon and based on current definitions, I don't think the "gain 1/1 and cannot be ignored" is dependent on it remaining on an evil King.
I'm not certain if Large Tree has a play-as to treat the "Place on an evil King" as a condition.

ORCID to the rescue!
Play As: Place on your evil king to search deck for a Site: Protect him from ignore abilities. Each upkeep, increase him 1/1.
but I would think that because you could not original play this on a "non-evil" king, when the king cease to be evil, the card cannot be on it, as it no longer meets the requirements the card is looking for
-
Thank you, I did not have quick access to the ORCID.
The place ability is an instant ability...as long as the requirement for placement was met at that time, the placed card can remain there.

Well, for the sake of discussion...
I put Large Tree on Herod Agrippa II (Txp). He gets converted with Holy Grail to a Green Brigade hero. I then place on the repented Herod Agrippa II, the Belt of Truth PC. Would Large Tree fall of then, as Herod now as pro:crimson?

Nope. Protection just stops targeting from happening but the only time Tree targets (Edit: with it's place ability) is when the place ability initially completes.
-
Well, the increase targets each upkeep, so if Tree worked Herod couldn't grow larger.
